Liberal Protestors Go Too Far, As Usual

Liberals, when they protest (pretty much everything), have a knack for taking things too far and turning chunks of the public against them.

While that’s fine with me, I imagine it’s not the most effective way to get people to take your side, and frankly as in this case, insulting to every decent person.

There is a time for pointless protesting and there are times where it’s not appropriate, liberals really need to learn this. Let me explain for you liberals that may be confused.

Crashing a Special Olympics event is inappropriate.

Protesting in front of the capital building is fine.

Protesting in your classroom, as a teacher is inappropriate.

Protesting in front of the school on your lunch break is fine.

Protesting by throwing blood on people is inappropriate.

Protesting in front of a genetic lab is fine, as long as you aren’t assaulting people.

In short, protesting at places related to your issue is good, interrupting other non-related things to try and make your point is bad. Harming other people in any way is bad, and turns people against you, in some cases even inviting reprisals. (that’s no better, but could be avoided by not being dicks.)

It’s always the liberal protests in this country that turn into riots and looting, its the liberals protests that trash the national mall. There are exceptions I’m sure, but by and large, this is a liberal phenomena and helps conservatives more than it helps liberals. So by all means, continue.

You seem to be suggesting that people are incapable of making bad decisions. Or that only a subset of people are.

In any case I highly doubt that liberals have a monopoly on being stupid. One only needs to turn on conservative talk or commentary on the tv or radio to see asinine behavior on a daily basis but the conclusion is not that all conservatives are puffed up, conceited biggots who wear ignorance as a badge of honor.

If we all went around pointing out goofy behavior of opposing groups we’d never get anything done. Just because Glenn Beck and Bill O’Rielly are morons and happen to be conservatives doesn’t mean you are, being you classify yourself the same way.

I don’t think any of the talk show hosts I listen to are bigots. The use of that word has almost become meaningless because of people who use it as a substitute for “person who disagrees with me politically” or “person who doesn’t believe in a program, regardless of what racial group it helps the most”. I would have thought you were better than that.

As far as liberals having a monopoly on stupid, I didn’t say they did. However if you take stock of the protests here that do turn violent, or the stupid stunts like I mentioned above, they are overwhelmingly in support of liberal causes.

Everyone is capable of making bad decisions, but I’m talking about protests and demonstrations. The people making most of those related bad decisions do tend to be of a certain political persuasion. I’d guess that this is an emotional thing, liberals tend to see the world through an emotional window rather than a plainly logical one. hence, they go too far regularly.

I have to agree (in regards to the bigot comment). I’m so sick of hearing that word, as its thrown the face of anyone who happens to hold an opinion counter to that of (mostly) liberals. Don’t think homosexuality is moral? BIGOT! Don’t think people with male genitalia should pee in female restrooms? BIGOT! Have a different opinion than me? You must be a BIGOT!

Get over yourselves, opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and most of them are shitty.

Don’t think homosexuality is moral? BIGOT!

You haven’t been paying attention. You aren’t a bigot because you think homosexuality is immoral. You’re ignorant, sure, but not a bigot. What makes a bigot is when you seek to restrict the rights of gays as a group.

Perhaps, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s being overused and minimized as a result. Often times flung around as a meaningless insult rather than a description of some real behavior.

The only people I really see overusing it are conservatives. The same goes for the term “intolerant”. People often conflate their desire for others to blindly respect their beliefs with bigotry and other unrelated ideas. And it so happens that there is no place where it is thought beliefs ought to be respected without reason more than in religion. And who is the most religious? Conservatives.

I guess you really don’t read your comments. You always try and drag religion into everything, like some kind of fetish. Really, you might want to get that looked at.

That doesn’t have much to do with what I said, but I run a science blog. As it happens, religion is the biggest detriment to scientific progress, hence its frequent appearance on my site.

You really want to believe that don’t you?
