CPAC Gay Controversy

A number of groups have pulled out of this years CPAC conference because of the inclusion of a pro-gay group in this years conference. While I appreciate them sticking to what they think is right, who really cares. I too don’t approve of homosexuality, but the important thing is showing what conservatism is.

The group in question is called GOProud. Personally I’d rather they were not included at the conference because of their fairly centrist views. They support broader second amendment rights, and they are against a federal marriage amendment but aside from that everything they stand for is pretty much middle of the road and they have no business being at CPAC.

I like the idea of having a really broad CPAC conference but lets face it, its a conservative conference and the groups included should be conservative. Conservatives in my opinion are some of the most open minded people there are but they don’t need to include a pro-gay group just to say they did.

Lets keep it conservative in the future shall we? If you don’t like a booth than fine, don’t go to the booth but as long as they are conservative overall they should be welcome, regardless of relatively minor discrepancies.
